ALLO ALLO ALLO: HE'S BACK AGAIN!
Boys & girls, it's finally arrived!
The new opus from yer old mate Honest John Plain & his good friends the Landslide Ladies has finally dropped through the letterbox at Tightpocket towers.
Those little teasers were having a bit of a caper with your old mate Flash, keeping yours truly waiting & poised in anticipation for the delights that lie within this magnificent platter
But was it really worth the waiting & the anticipation??....
Jesus H Christ; is the pope a catholic? Do bears shit in the woods? Did I bury my ex wife in the back yard after traumatising her brain stem with a 14lb hammer?? ... YOU BETCHA!!
Without further ado, this was slapped onto the trusty old Technics & 'twas time to ABSOOOORB!
Featuring many songs from our Johns chequered past & a couple of newies to boot, this album rocks like a hurricane.
Kicking off with real romper stomper 'Monotony' through 'this is what we want' & onto a very old personal fave of mine 'New guitar in town', our man 'Honest' seems to be given a new lease of life (not that he needs it) by his amalgamation with the Landslide ladies. The whole album has a slick feel to it without losing that essential raw edge. If you can imagine 'the Ramones' twinned with Motts 'the Hoople' album?!
On with Crybabys classics 'all the way to hell & back' & 'where have all the good girls gone'. Believe me my dears; there's only one woman in this whole world who'll never let you down & that's your dear old Mum! Fact!
The piece de resistance of this offering however, has to be 'I hate my fucking job'. Never; in so few words, has the feelings of 99% of the population been summed up with so much ease. If this little ditty doesn't strike a chord with you, then you wanna try humping slabs of granite around for 11 hours of the live long day!
Trust me cherubs, this has instant crowd pleaser written all over it. It's basic, it's simple & once you've heard it you can't get the bloody thing out of your head.
'I don't wanna be with you' is a Landslide ladies tooon, all Ramonesaramalama! 'USI', 'Poor little rich girl', 'Tcp', & 'Scrubber' are all Boys classics which need no introduction.
Topped off by a rousing version of what else? An ode to innocence lost! 'First time'!!
My dears; if you've never seen dear ol' Honest play live, then shame on you! Be it, the Boys, the Mannish boys, the Crybabys, the Last rock'n'roll band, the Amigos or even plain ol' Honest John. (do you see what I did there?) You never fail to leave the venue with a smile on your face & a song never far away from your lips, Heartwarming stuff!
Bloody hell, are you still here my dears? You should be out there investing in said opus as we speak!
