DeRELLAS

LIVE AT : .... All over the bleedin place!

 Now then my dears;
Do your old mate Flash Tightpocket a favour & cast your mind back. Cast your mind back to a time which appeared to have much greater innocence.
All those bands! All those bands who first turned you on to music. Do you remember that glorious noise?
That noise which made you initially want to go out & start your own band.
It didn't matter that you didn't know a thing about music, or that you didn't know one end of a guitar from a horses arse, but by god, you were gonna learn & you were gonna learn fast!

Though some of us did have a go. Alas to no avail, which, in hindsight is probably for the best because I couldn't carry a tune in a bloody bucket. However, I did have an idea in my minds eye, of what my perfect band would sound like, taking elements from hither & thither, cooking them up in a large cauldron & coming up with a rock'n'roll band of titanic proportions.
Which, my fluffy little swamp ducks, is where the DeRELLAS  come in!

I first caught these fine fellas at the Old Angel in Nottingham, on the same bill as New York guitar legend, Walter Lure.
The bread knife & me were enjoying a pasha & a pint in the smoking area, when she commented that we should go & check out this band as they looked interesting! Not wanting to stoke up the wrath of 'she who must be obeyed', I promptly agreed & we hot footed it upstairs just in time to catch the boys giving their all with the 'Go Go Derellas' intro.
Impressed? IMPRESSED? my dears, we were positively throbbing with excitement.
For here before my very eyes was that band! You know, the very one that lurks in the deepest, darkest recesses of your mind. The one you always wanted your own band to sound like.

Oh yes my dears, 'twas all ultra beefy, Pistolian rifferama, Heartbreakers cool, the drive & might of the Ramones, massive 'hey hey, woah woah' choruses & more 'mega hooks' than a Jurrassic abbatoir.
I ask you, what more could you possibly need? What's that I hear you say? ....Oh; you'd like a stage show to match the sound would you? Oooh you're never satisfied!!
Well rest assured my little baby trolls, these boys are not found wanting in that department either.
Singer/guitarist Robbie Tart is a front man with a capital FRUNT. What a performer! Never before have I seen a man so adept at getting the audience eating from the palm of his hand like this. I swear, if this guy had been on the balcony at the Nuremburg rallies in the 30s & 40s we wouldn't have stood a chance.
The high kicking, star jumping, bass playing Timmy Derella is another revelation, with an absolute sense of the dynamic. With Luca supplying the guitar histrionics & Tommy, a real powerhouse of a drummer completing the line-up, I have to report that these guys have ABSOLUTELY, everything that's required, in their arsenal.

The DeRELLAS supply a high octane blend of (in their own words) Glam, Stomping, Punk'n'Roll, which is pretty damn much impossible to ignore.
If these cats are playing a venue near you, I implore you to get off your arse & go see 'em.
Madame Tightpocket & me recently saw 'em on 3 consecutive nights & I have to say, we got quite emotional when it was time to say goodbye, but at least we had their album, 'Hollywood Monsters', to keep us company on the long drive home. Which, incidentally, along with many other goodies, is available from their website at http://www.thederellas.com/DeRellas/swag.html
Go on, trust your old mate 'Flash Tightpocket' & treat yourself to 30 minutes of musical ecstasy.

Boys & girls; I give you the DeRELLAS. You've gotta love 'em.
CHIN CHIN.
