Walter Lure in the U.K..

100 Club London 14-10-10.

It's been an absolute bloody lifetime since we last saw the great Waldo on these shores.
I remember travelling down from Yorkshire to the Lyceum to see the last Heartbreakers show in this country in 84.
It also compounded my opinion that Walter was the rock solid, steadying influence who held the whole thing together.
As you can probably gather the bread knife & me were jumping with delirium when we found out he was doing 3 shows in dear old blighty, so we booked tickets for the lot of 'em.
After several glasses of the golden throat charmer in the Ship on Wardour st, we headed off to the 100 club where it was a wall to wall of who's who. (Spizz handing out flyers resplendent in belisha beacon chic)?

After supports from Johnny Throttle & the impressive electro blues of Jeff 'Electrajet' Ward it was time for the main event & he most certainly did not dissapoint.
Backed by his British pick-up band, who were definately not going through the motions, Walter Lure rolled back the years & then some. Basically, playing all his old back catalogue from the Heartbreakers, the Heroes & the Waldo's, this material sounded as fresh as ever. But then again; great rock'n'roll never wearies with age.
As is always the way, when you are enjoying something so much, it passes by in the blinking of an eye, Chinese Rocks, the last number was upon us, where the band was joined by Glen Matlock on guitar.
It does not get better than this!  (Was Glen in charge of the dj? it was all Rich kids & London Cowboys) Niiiiiiiiice !
After an encore of Heartbreakers numbers we had a brief chat with Waldo (an absolute gentleman) & headed off into the Oxford st night; refreshed , invigorated & sweaty. Looking forward to a few hundred miles of travel in the morning & the prospect of Walter Lure in Northampton. Bloody awesome!
